From September 30, 2026, Rurbanism will present the Rurbanism Exhibition at ISETAN HOME ESSENCE / DESIGN STUDIO on the 5th floor of Isetan Shinjuku.
“Rurban” refers to the coexistence of the urban and the rural.
The exhibition brings together vintage furniture made to endure and contemporary Japanese ceramics, creating a space where objects from different times and places coexist as part of a single landscape.
Furniture by Hans J. Wegner, Børge Mogensen, Pierre Jeanneret, Pierre Chapo, Charlotte Perriand, and others will be presented alongside works by Shingo Arakawa, Kenta Anzai, Ryuji Iwasaki, Atsushi Ogata, Shohei Ono, Teppei Ono, Tetsuya Kobayashi, Tomoko Sakai, Michikazu Sakai, Toru Hatta, and Naotsugu Yoshida.
Through these objects and the relationships formed between them, the exhibition explores new ways of living between the urban and the rural, the past and the present.
