Shohei Ono / “Black Shino” Shallow Bowl

A shallow bowl with Black Shino glaze by contemporary ceramic artist Shohei Ono.

Ono's distinctive expression emerges from his ongoing exploration of clay, glaze, and the firing process. The deep tones of Black Shino, together with the subtle variations and rich textures of handcraftsmanship, give each piece its own unique landscape.

Shades of brown and gray emerge from within the black surface. The way the glaze melts and responds to the flames creates individual expressions, ensuring that no two pieces are ever alike, each possessing a beauty of its own.

Whether displayed or used, the possibilities unfold freely within the everyday lives of those who own them.

As a shallow bowl for generously serving food, for presenting seasonal ingredients, or simply as a piece to appreciate for its form and texture.

A vessel that blends naturally into daily life, revealing new expressions with every use.
