Designed by Alvar Aalto, the “122 Bench” is a beautifully balanced piece that embodies Aalto’s signature harmony of structural simplicity and functional elegance.

This particular example is a vintage piece produced around the 1950s, expressing the warmth and quiet presence characteristic of Nordic modernism within its refined and minimal construction.

Originally designed as a children’s bench, the “122 Bench” is slightly more compact in scale compared to Aalto’s well-known “153” series, giving it a light and versatile character.

The lightweight birch frame and Aalto’s distinctive L-leg construction create soft flowing lines that bring a natural rhythm and calm atmosphere to a space.

Over decades, the wood has developed a rich patina and beautifully matured character, allowing the quiet charm unique to vintage furniture to emerge naturally.

While perfectly functional as a bench, the piece can also be used beautifully as a display platform or subtle spatial accent within an interior.
