Born in Tokyo in 1960. Currently based in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, he continues to create using techniques such as "konnichiwa" and brushstroke while harnessing the strength of raw clay rich in iron content. The vessels fired in a wood kiln possess a solid presence within tranquility, bringing depth and tension to the space they occupy.
Atsushi Ogata's black glaze brushstroke pieces are unique works created by swiftly applying white slip with a brush onto vessels shaped from black clay. The dynamic brushstrokes carve a strong rhythm, embodying a sense of vitality and energy that seems to capture the artist's breath.
The fresh vitality emitted by seasonal flowers and plants resonates with the energy embedded in Atsushi Ogata's vases, bringing profound emotion to those who behold them.
