Elmwood

The S31 Stool by French designer Pierre Chapo is defined by its solid elm seat and distinctive three-legged structure, with each leg converging toward the center.

The base employs a structural system Chapo referred to as “Converging Lines.” By bringing the three legs together from different directions, the construction provides stability beneath the compact seat while simultaneously becoming the defining visual element of the S31.

The softly rounded seat contrasts with the strong, intersecting structure of the legs. Rather than concealing its construction, Chapo allows it to become part of the design itself, revealing both the substantial character of the wood and the beauty of its structural logic.

Crafted from elm, the stool displays a pronounced grain and rich natural texture that continue to develop in tone and character over time. The contrast between the gently sculpted curves of the wood and the complex construction of the base further defines the piece.

Within its compact form, the S31 brings together Chapo’s understanding of wood, mastery of craftsmanship, and approach to transforming structure itself into form.

Please note that, as shown in the photographs, there are scratches and signs of aging throughout the piece. We kindly ask that these characteristics be appreciated as part of the unique charm and authenticity of a vintage item before purchase.

Regarding shipping for furniture pieces: after purchase, shipping costs and any additional handling fees will be calculated separately according to the delivery region and provided to the customer.
