An incense dish by contemporary ceramic artist Shohei Ono.

Available in three distinct finishes—“Ao-hai” Glaze, “Kurokesyou”, and “Shirogane Glaze—each piece reflects Ono's ongoing exploration of clay, glaze, and the firing process. The subtle variations in texture, tone, and surface are born from handcraft, giving every work its own unique character.

While created as a vessel for burning incense, the piece carries a quiet presence even when not in use, bringing a sense of calm and space to its surroundings. It is a small sculptural object that reveals new expressions through everyday living.

These works were created for a new Rurbanism project launching in Autumn 2026. Ahead of its opening, they are being introduced first through the Rurbanism online store.

Shohei Ono

Born in Aichi, Japan, in 1985, Shohei Ono is currently based in Kami City, Kochi Prefecture.

Raised in the studio of his father, renowned ceramic artist Teppei Ono, Shohei developed his own practice through a deep engagement with the natural landscape. He digs his own clay from the mountains, prepares glaze materials by hand, and embraces every stage of the making process, allowing nature to play an integral role in each work.

Characterized by generous forms, reassuring weight, and quietly expressive surfaces, Ono's works possess a presence that extends beyond everyday function. Whether used as tableware, displayed with flowers, or appreciated as sculptural objects, they bring a quiet yet enduring richness to the spaces they inhabit.
