Description

The new glaze "Shirogane" by contemporary ceramic artist Shohei Ono is a work that beautifully expresses the strong texture of the clay itself while also possessing a certain transparency and freshness, creating a serene and elegant appearance. Depending on the angle of light, it shows a variety of expressions that intertwine simplicity and elegance, with each view being unique.

Shohei Ono maintains a rare production approach, personally digging clay from the mountains and handcrafting the raw materials for the glaze from scratch. The vessels created with his unique techniques and strict firing process embody a generous and powerful presence, combining softness and ruggedness in a way that is characteristic of his work.

The Shirogane glazed flowerpot is a precious piece specially made by Shohei Ono for Rurbanism. His flowerpot works are rarely presented in solo exhibitions, and opportunities for them to appear on the market are extremely limited, making them highly rare pieces.

In the future, Rurbanism will introduce a variety of works, including Shohei Ono's flowerpots.

Shohei Ono
Born in 1985 in Aichi Prefecture. Currently creating ceramics in Kami City, Kochi Prefecture.

Growing up under his father, ceramic artist Teppei Ono, he continues to create while deeply engaging with nature, digging clay from the mountains and preparing the raw materials for glazes from scratch after becoming independent.

The vessels, which have a certain weight when held and are born from a generous shape, harbor a quiet tension beneath their simplicity, giving a powerful presence to the space beyond daily life. They serve not only as dishes for serving food but also show a new expression as art pieces when used for arranging flowers or placed as objects, captivating the hearts of viewers.
