Description

The new glaze "Shirogane" by contemporary ceramic artist Shohei Ono brings out the powerful texture of the clay itself while possessing a beautiful and serene expression that exudes a sense of transparency and freshness. Depending on the angle of light, it displays a variety of expressions where simplicity and elegance intertwine, with each view being unique.

Shohei Ono maintains a rare production approach by personally entering the mountains to dig up clay and handcrafting the raw materials for the glaze from scratch. The vessels created through his unique techniques and rigorous firing embody a generous and powerful presence, blending softness and ruggedness that is characteristic of his work.

The "Shirogane" glazed planter is a precious piece specially made by Shohei Ono for Rurbanism. His planter works are rarely presented in solo exhibitions, and opportunities for them to circulate in the market are extremely limited, making them highly rare pieces.

In the future, Rurbanism will introduce a variety of works, including Shohei Ono's planters.

Shohei Ono
Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1985. Currently creating pottery in Kami City, Kochi Prefecture.

Growing up under his father, ceramic artist Teppei Ono, he continues to engage deeply with nature by personally entering the mountains to dig clay and preparing the raw materials for glazes from scratch after becoming independent.

The vessels, which have a solid weight when held and are born from a generous shape, harbor a quiet tension beneath their simplicity, giving a powerful presence to the space beyond daily life. They serve not only as dishes for serving food but also reveal a new expression as art pieces when used for arranging flowers or displayed like sculptures, captivating the hearts of viewers.
