Shohei Ono / Plant Pot Small-Long C
Description
The new glaze "Shirogane" by contemporary ceramic artist Shohei Ono brings out the strong texture of the clay itself while possessing a beautiful and serene expression that embodies a certain transparency and freshness. Depending on the angle of light, it shows a variety of expressions where simplicity and elegance intertwine, with each view being unique.
Shohei Ono maintains a rare creative stance by personally entering the mountains to dig up clay and handcrafting the materials for his glazes from scratch. The vessels created with the unique techniques and rigorous firing of "Shirogane" carry a generous and powerful presence, embodying a coexistence of softness and roughness that is characteristic of Ono.
The Shirogane glazed flowerpot is a precious piece specially made by Shohei Ono for Rurbanism. His flowerpot works are rarely presented in solo exhibitions, and opportunities for them to circulate in the market are extremely limited, making them highly rare pieces.
In the future, Rurbanism will introduce a variety of works, including Shohei Ono's flowerpots.
Shohei Ono
Born in 1985 in Aichi Prefecture. Currently creating pottery in Kamishi, Kochi Prefecture.
Growing up under his father, ceramic artist Teppei Ono, he continues to create while deeply engaging with nature, digging clay and preparing glaze materials from scratch after becoming independent.
The vessels, born from a certain weight and generous shape when held, harbor a quiet tension beneath their simplicity, providing a powerful presence that transcends daily life and enhances the space itself. As a vessel for serving food, as well as being used for arranging flowers or placed as an object, they reveal a new expression as art pieces that captivate the hearts of viewers.
