Description

The new glaze "Shirogane" by contemporary ceramic artist Shohei Ono brings out the strong texture of the clay itself while possessing a beautiful and serene expression that somehow embodies transparency and freshness. Depending on the angle of light, it displays a variety of expressions that intertwine simplicity and elegance, with no two views being the same.

Shohei Ono maintains a rare production approach, personally digging up clay from the mountains and handcrafting the raw materials for the glaze from scratch. The vessels created with the unique techniques and strict firing of "Shirogane" possess a generous and powerful presence, embodying a coexistence of softness and ruggedness that is characteristic of his work.

The Shirogane glazed planter is a precious piece specially made by Shohei Ono for Rurbanism. His planter works are rarely presented in solo exhibitions, and opportunities for them to circulate in the market are extremely limited, making them highly rare pieces.

In the future, Rurbanism will introduce a variety of works, including Shohei Ono's planters.

Shohei Ono
Born in 1985 in Aichi Prefecture. Currently creating pottery in Kami City, Kochi Prefecture.

Growing up under his father, ceramic artist Teppei Ono, he continues to create while deeply engaging with nature, digging clay from the mountains and preparing the raw materials for glazes from scratch after becoming independent.

The vessels, born from a certain weight when held and a generous shape, harbor a quiet tension beneath their simplicity, giving a powerful presence to the space itself, transcending daily life. They serve not only as dishes for serving food but also show a new expression as art pieces when used for arranging flowers or placed like an object, captivating the hearts of viewers.
