Hatta Toru / "Shizen-yu" Plant Pot B
Description
Base diameter (φ) 60mm × height (h) 130mm mouth diameter 90mm~100mm
Contemporary ceramic artist Toru Hatta's white glaze and natural glaze.
If white glaze is considered beauty born from human hands, then natural glaze, as its name suggests, is an expression created by the power of nature that transcends human intervention.
During the firing process in a high-temperature wood kiln, ash from the wood falls onto the vessel, melting and adhering like glaze. The colors, textures, and landscapes created by this chance occurrence are unique, with no two being the same, even among works fired in the same kiln showing completely different expressions.
Pursuing the "miracle of fire and ash" in works that cannot be reached by human intention――
The natural glaze flower pots vividly embody another charm of Toru Hatta.
Toru Hatta's natural glaze flower pots. This is the first time Hatta has created flower pots, making this a very rare work in that sense. These are a group of precious works specially made for Rurbanism after repeated dialogues with the artist.
Rurbanism will continue to introduce various works, including vases and flower pots by contemporary ceramic artist Toru Hatta.
