Sakai Tomoko / Tsubo
Description
Diameter (φ) 370mm × Height (h) 350mm Opening diameter 140mm
The "Colored Burnt Pot" by contemporary ceramic artist Tomoko Sakai is a unique work created by applying color to the clay body and intentionally firing it without a glaze layer. This "Colored Burnt" technique is a new challenge the artist has taken on in recent years, making it a valuable piece that we are specially handling at Rurbanism.
The expressions created by this unique technique possess a certain simplicity behind the vibrant colors, evoking a one-of-a-kind charm. When filled with vibrant, life-filled plants, the strength of the colors and the dry texture unique to burnt pottery create a beautiful contrast, further enhancing the presence of the piece as an artwork.
Rurbanism will continue to introduce a variety of works by Tomoko Sakai, including vases and plant pots.
