The Artek “Armchair 42” is often referred to as a “small Paimio Chair.”
Designed in 1932 by Alvar Aalto alongside the iconic “Armchair 41 Paimio,” it was originally created for the Paimio Sanatorium in Finland.
The chair features a cantilevered birch frame combined with a gently flexible molded plywood seat and backrest, forming a beautifully flowing silhouette with soft organic curves characteristic of Aalto’s design language.
Over time, the birch wood has aged gracefully into a rich honey tone, giving the piece the warmth, depth, and quiet presence unique to vintage furniture.
Please note that, as shown in the photographs, there are scratches and signs of aging throughout the piece. We kindly ask that these characteristics be appreciated as part of the unique charm and authenticity of a vintage item before purchase.
Regarding shipping for furniture pieces: after purchase, shipping costs and any additional handling fees will be calculated separately according to the delivery region and provided to the customer.
Please note that we are unable to ship to Okinawa or remote islands.
