This is a vase with a black ground brushstroke by contemporary ceramic artist Atsushi Ogata.

Born in Tokyo in 1960. He is currently based in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, and continues to create using techniques such as "karatsu" and brushstroke while harnessing the strength of raw clay rich in iron content. The vessels fired in a wood kiln exude a solid presence amidst tranquility, bringing depth and tension to the space they occupy.

The black ground brushstroke by contemporary ceramic artist Atsushi Ogata is a unique work created by swiftly applying white slip with a brush onto a vessel shaped from black clay. The dynamic traces of the brush carve a strong rhythm, embodying a sense of vitality and life that seems to capture the artist's very breath.

The fresh vitality emitted by seasonal flowers and plants resonates with the energy contained in Atsushi Ogata's vases, bringing profound emotion to the viewer.
