Description
Atsushi Ogata Black Ground Brush Stroke Plant Pot
Diameter (φ) 170mm × Height (h) 95mm Opening Diameter 150mm
This is a plant pot created by contemporary ceramic artist Atsushi Ogata, featuring a black ground with brush strokes.
Born in Tokyo in 1960. Currently based in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, he continues to create using techniques such as powdery glaze and brush strokes, while harnessing the strength of clay rich in iron. The vessels fired in a wood kiln possess a certain presence within their tranquility, bringing depth and tension not only to the plants but also to the space they occupy.
This piece is a plant pot with a black ground and brush strokes, created by swiftly applying white slip with a brush onto a clay body shaped from black soil. The dynamic traces of the brush carve a strong rhythm into the surface of the vessel, presenting a unique appearance that has no two pieces alike.
This is a one-of-a-kind piece specially made for Rurbanism, and since Atsushi Ogata's plant pots rarely appear on the market, it can be considered a highly rare work.
The quiet vitality of the brush stroke vessels by Atsushi Ogata.
Enjoy it as a small art piece that fits in the palm of your hand, living alongside your plants.
