Description
Atsushi Ogata Black Ground Brushstroke Plant Pot
Diameter (φ) 150mm × Height (h) 100mm Mouth Diameter 135mm
This is a plant pot made by contemporary ceramic artist Atsushi Ogata, featuring a black ground brushstroke design.
Born in Tokyo in 1960, he is currently based in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, where he continues to create using techniques such as powdery glaze and brushstroke, while harnessing the strength of clay rich in iron content. The vessels fired in a wood kiln exude a solid presence amidst tranquility, bringing depth and tension not only to the plants but also to the space they occupy.
This piece is a plant pot with a black ground brushstroke created by rapidly applying white slip with a brush onto a clay body shaped from black soil. The dynamic traces of the brush carve a strong rhythm into the surface of the vessel, presenting a unique presence that has no two pieces alike.
This is a one-of-a-kind piece specially made for Rurbanism, and since Atsushi Ogata's plant pots rarely appear on the market, it can be considered a highly rare work.
The quiet vitality of the brushstroke vessels by Atsushi Ogata.
Enjoy it as a small art piece that fits in the palm of your hand, living alongside your plants.
