Michikazu Sakai
Born in 1975 in Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture. He studied under Bizen pottery artist Satoru Masamune and built a climbing kiln in his hometown in 1997. He currently resides in Kagawa Prefecture and continues to create pottery.
The works born from the wood-fired kiln showcase a variety of charms, including the rich expressions of Oribe, Shino, and unique glazes made from mimosa ash. The flower vases reflect the power of earth and fire, providing depth and a quiet presence to the space when flowers are arranged in them.
