Michikazu Sakai / Mimosa Glazed Plant Pot B
Description
Diameter (φ) 120mm × Height (h) 75mm Opening diameter 100mm
A beautiful flower pot made of mimosa ash glaze by contemporary ceramic artist Michikazu Sakai.
The soft milky white vessel, made using ash collected from the mimosa tree, exudes a gentle atmosphere. The mimosa ash glaze is a unique expression created by Sakai, and the natural ash's unevenness gives each piece a different depth and charm.
This flower pot, made with Oribe glaze and mimosa ash glaze, is a precious piece specially created by Sakai for Rurbanism. His flower pot works are rarely exhibited in solo shows, and opportunities to enter the market are extremely limited, making this a highly rare piece.
Rurbanism will continue to introduce various works, including flower pots by Michikazu Sakai.
Michikazu Sakai
Born in 1975 in Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture. He apprenticed under Bizen pottery artist Satoru Masamune and built a climbing kiln in his hometown in 1997. He is currently based in Kagawa Prefecture, continuing his pottery work.
The works born from the wood-fired kiln showcase a variety of expressions, including the rich features of Oribe, white slip, and unique glazes made with mimosa ash. The flower vases reflect the power of earth and fire, providing depth and a quiet presence to the space when flowers are arranged in them.
The flower vases, imbued with the blessings of nature, add a soft warmth to daily life and gently nourish the hearts of those who spend their days with flowers.
