Michikazu Sakai / Mimosa Glazed Plant Pot C
Description
Diameter (φ) 110mm × Height (h) 85mm Opening diameter 105mm
This is a beautiful flower pot made of mimosa ash glaze by contemporary ceramic artist Michikazu Sakai.
The soft milky white vessel, made using ash from the mimosa tree, is enveloped in a gentle atmosphere. The mimosa ash glaze is a unique expression created by Sakai, with the natural ash's irregularity providing each piece with different depth and charm.
This flower pot, made with Oribe glaze and mimosa ash glaze, is a valuable piece specially created by Sakai for Rurbanism. Since his flower pot works are rarely exhibited in solo shows and have very few opportunities to appear on the market, they are considered to be extremely rare pieces.
Rurbanism will continue to introduce a variety of works, including flower pots by Michikazu Sakai.
Michikazu Sakai
Born in 1975 in Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture. He studied under Bizen pottery artist Satoru Masamune and built a climbing kiln in his hometown in 1997. He currently continues to create pottery based in Kagawa Prefecture.
The works born from the wood-fired kiln display a rich expression with various glazes, including Oribe, white slip, and his unique glaze made from mimosa ash. The flower vases reflect the power of earth and fire, providing depth and a quiet presence to the space when flowers are arranged in them.
The flower vases, imbued with the blessings of nature, add a soft warmth to daily life and gently nourish the hearts of those who spend their days with flowers.
