This is a beautiful flower pot with Oribe glaze by contemporary ceramic artist Michikazu Sakai.

The deep green glaze of Oribe ware is impressive, characterized by a rich range of colors produced by a uniquely formulated Oribe glaze and the natural expressions that emerge during firing.

This Oribe glaze and mimosa ash glaze flower pot is a precious piece specially made by Sakai for Rurbanism. Since his flower pot works are rarely exhibited in solo exhibitions and there are very few opportunities for them to appear on the market, they can be considered extremely rare works.

Rurbanism will continue to introduce a variety of works, including flower pots by Michikazu Sakai.

Michikazu Sakai

Born in 1975 in Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture. He studied under Bizen ware artist Satoru Masamune and built a climbing kiln in his hometown in 1997. He is currently based in Kagawa Prefecture, continuing his pottery work.

The works born from the wood-fired kiln show a variety of expressions, using unique glazes such as Oribe, white slip, and mimosa ash. The flower vases reflect the power of earth and fire, adding depth and a quiet presence to the space when flowers are arranged in them.

The flower vases, imbued with the blessings of nature, add a gentle warmth to daily life and tenderly enrich the hearts of those who spend their days with flowers.
