白磁の白、鉄釉の黒。透き通るような白と、深く吸い込まれるような黒。

美しいかたちそのものを研ぎ澄ますために、余計な要素を徹底して削ぎ落とす現代陶芸作家・吉田直嗣の花器。ミニマルを極めた静かな佇まいの内側から、かすかな揺らぎと温もりがふっと立ち上がる。その静謐さゆえに、作品はむしろ雄弁に語りかけ、見る者の心にそっと寄り添い続ける。

吉田直嗣 / Naotsugu Yoshida

1976年、静岡県生まれ。現在も同地にて作陶。

白磁作家・黒田泰蔵氏に師事し、独立後は鉄釉の黒いうつわで美しいかたちと深い色合いを追求し、独自の世界を築いてきました。

近年は白磁の制作にも取り組み、焼成や釉薬の差異から生まれる多彩な質感と色調により、表現の幅をさらに広げています。生み出される花器は、静謐な存在感と凛とした緊張感をあわせ持ち、花を受け止めた瞬間に空間を一変させる力を放ちます。

Born in Shizuoka in 1976, where he continues to live and work.
After studying under porcelain artist Taizo Kuroda, he established his own practice, pursuing refined forms and profound tones through iron-glazed black vessels, building a distinctive world of expression.

In recent years, he has also been working with white porcelain, expanding his range of expression through the diverse textures and hues that emerge from variations in firing and glaze. His vases embody both serene presence and poised tension, possessing the power to transform a space the moment they hold flowers.
