Designed in 1966 by French designer and woodworker Pierre Chapo, the S15 Armchair is constructed from substantial wooden elements combined with a leather seat and backrest.

The generous proportions of the wooden frame give the chair a strong structural presence, while the clarity with which each element is assembled creates a quiet sense of balance throughout the piece.

One of its defining characteristics is the way the construction is left visible rather than concealed. The intersections and joints between the substantial wooden elements become part of the chair’s visual expression, revealing both its structural logic and the craftsmanship behind it.

Against the strength of the wooden frame, leather is used for the surfaces that come into contact with the body, bringing contrasting textures and materials together within a single piece.

The S15 clearly reflects Chapo’s deep understanding of wood and his approach to transforming structure itself into form.
