SANTA & COLE is a design editor founded in Barcelona, Spain, in 1985.

From the beginning, founders Nina Masó, Gabriel Ordeig Cole, and Javier Nieto Santa have defined themselves not as manufacturers, but as editors. Their role has been to discover, select, and bring thoughtful design into contemporary life. In many ways, SANTA & COLE operates less as a producer of objects and more as a curator of culture.

From reissuing iconic lighting and furniture designs from the 1950s to collaborating with contemporary designers, the company has built a collection that carefully preserves enduring design while continuously creating new relevance for modern living.

Elegant forms, functional integrity, and a quiet sense of timelessness define the work of SANTA & COLE.

Rather than dominating a space, their products coexist harmoniously with architecture, furniture, artworks, and the people who inhabit them. Through light and form, they enrich the atmosphere of a place and deepen the character of everyday life.

SANTA&COLE / BABEL

BABEL is a lamp designed in 1971 by Spanish designer Ángel Jové.

Jové was not only a designer, but also a professor, actor, screenwriter, graphic designer, and illustrator. Moving across a wide range of creative fields, he developed a highly distinctive form of expression.

BABEL was once discontinued and removed from the SANTA & COLE collection. Even so, it remained quietly preserved as an archive piece in a corner of the company's office. One day, a visiting designer encountered the lamp and was deeply moved by its presence, insisting that it deserved to be reissued for the present day. This moment became the beginning of BABEL's return.

The lamp is made entirely from alabaster. When illuminated, the delicate natural patterns of the stone softly emerge, giving each piece a unique expression.

Even when unlit, BABEL has a sculptural presence, yet it never feels excessive or ostentatious. It carries a quiet sophistication and refined elegance.

Moving naturally across time, space, and setting while retaining a distinct individuality, BABEL seems to reflect the spirit of Ángel Jové himself—a creator who moved freely across many fields in pursuit of his own unique expression.
