SANTA & COLE is a design editor founded in Barcelona, Spain, in 1985.

From the beginning, founders Nina Masó, Gabriel Ordeig Cole, and Javier Nieto Santa have defined themselves not as manufacturers, but as editors. Their role has been to discover, select, and bring thoughtful design into contemporary life. In many ways, SANTA & COLE operates less as a producer of objects and more as a curator of culture.

From reissuing iconic lighting and furniture designs from the 1950s to collaborating with contemporary designers, the company has built a collection that carefully preserves enduring design while continuously creating new relevance for modern living.

SANTA&COLE / TMD FLOOR

The TMD FLOOR is a floor lamp designed by Miguel Milá, one of the leading figures of Spanish design, and introduced in 1996.

The design evolved from Milá's iconic TMM lamp, originally created in 1961. In the TMD, the wooden structure of the original has been reinterpreted in satin nickel-finished metal, resulting in a lighter and more contemporary expression while preserving the essence of the original design.

The linen shade is inspired by the image of a sail being raised on a mast. Its height can be adjusted using a rubber ring attached to the stand, which also functions as the lamp's pull switch. This thoughtful detail exemplifies Milá's distinctive approach, where function itself becomes an integral part of the design.

The remarkably thin metal base further reinforces the lamp's sense of lightness. Despite its metal construction, the TMD avoids any feeling of heaviness, appearing almost to float within the space.

Combining the enduring principles of the 1961 TMM with a fresh interpretation for the 1990s, the TMD FLOOR remains one of SANTA & COLE's most celebrated designs. Through its soft light and quiet presence, it brings a sense of warmth and understated elegance to any interior.
