Hatta Toru / "Shizen-yu" Plant Pot Large
Description
Base diameter (φ) 120mm × Height (h) 185mm Opening diameter 140mm
Contemporary ceramic artist Toru Hatta's white glaze and natural glaze.
If white glaze is considered beauty born from human hands, then natural glaze is, as the name suggests, an expression created by the power of nature that transcends human intervention.
During the high-temperature firing process in a wood kiln, ash from the wood falls onto the vessel, melting and adhering like glaze. The colors, textures, and landscapes born from this chance occurrence are all unique, showing completely different expressions even among works fired in the same kiln.
Pursuing the "miracle of fire and ash" in works that cannot be reached by human intention――
The natural glaze plant pots vividly embody another charm of Toru Hatta.
Toru Hatta's natural glaze plant pots. This is the first time Hatta has created plant pots, making this a very rare work in that sense. It is a collection of precious works specially made for Rurbanism after repeated dialogues with the artist.
Rurbanism will continue to introduce a variety of works, including vases and plant pots by contemporary ceramic artist Toru Hatta.
