田宮 亜紀 Aki Tamiya

田宮 亜紀 Aki Tamiya

Born in Tokyo, she built her first kiln in Mashiko in 1996 and began her career as a ceramic artist while working alongside Seiichi Imanari and the late Ryo Aoki. In 1999, she completed an anagama (wood-fired climbing kiln) in Shizuoka, where she continues her ceramic practice today.

Her jars and vases—rooted in an unwavering dedication to unglazed yakishime (high-fired stoneware)—embody the raw strength of the clay while radiating a quiet, dignified presence. Simple yet profound, they bring a sense of serene tension to any space, standing as art pieces that express a primal and deeply felt aesthetic sensibility.
